It’s easy to be attracted to inexpensive new homes – and rightfully so, but you need to do your research and determine the quality of the home.

To ensure your home is crafted with quality and built to the highest standards, make sure the builder is installing quality products in your home. Payne Family Homes only works with companies that pride themselves in excellence. By using quality components with excellent name brand backing such as Lennox HVAC, Moen faucets, Jeld-Wen windows, Therma Tru doors, and Weyerhaeuser floor joists, Payne Family Homes is able to guarantee structural integrity.

Payne Family Homes’ quality is not only recognized by their new home owners, but also by the Home Builders Association of Eastern Missouri. This year, Payne Family Homes was nominated for three Professional’s Choice Awards. For the second year in a row, Payne Family Homes won the most Professional’s Choice Awards in the local market. The San Marino model at The Meadows at Ohmes Farm, The Cape Cod model at The Pointe at Heritage Crossing Villas, and The Breckenridge model at The Pointe at Heritage Crossing have all earned the respect of the judges that devoted their time to awarding the Professional’s Choice Awards! The judges are professional building inspectors that lend credibility to the process as they are best positioned to recognize quality and craftsmanship against criteria that matters!

How To: Landscape Your First Yard

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

After you’ve bought your first new home, the thought of landscaping your yard may seem like a larger feat than you can take on, but rest assured, we’ve provided some helpful hints to make your first landscaping experience go smoothly.

If you need a little inspiration, walk up and down the street and see what you’re neighbors have done. Will yours be as distinctive and timeless as your new Payne Family Home? Get some ideas from them but make it your own!

Take note of entryways, and be sure not to overplant near doors and sidewalks. If you’ve got a long sidewalk or driveway leading up to your new home, consider lining it with trees as this will add elegance.
Trees, shrubs, and ground covers are permanent purchases that increase in size and value and take little maintenance.

Flowers can fill woody gaps in shrubbery. Cut back on the cost of flowers and plant perennials as opposed to annuals. Not only will they come back each year, they’ll come back fuller as well! Or, Bypass purchasing perennials all together; ask friends and neighbors if they’d divide and give you some of their existing plants like day lilies and peonies.

Don’t get discouraged – landscaping takes time! Enjoy the experience and take pride in all the hard work you’ve put into your new Payne Family Home!

Sayonara Highway K?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

O’fallon, Missouri city officials are currently discussing changing the name of one of the city’s busiest roads, Highway K, to Krekel Boulevard.

The Krekels are one of O’Fallon’s founding families. In 1856, Nicholas Krekel, a German immigrant, bought land near North Main Street from his brother, Arnold, who mapped out a future city near Assumption Church.

The name change would not only honor the city’s founders, but Councilman John Haman Jr. says the name change could help the city shed an “antiquated” image as a rural town, and better connect the city with its history, distinguishing O’Fallon from other cities that might also have a Highway K.

“We need to get rid of our designations as a farm town. We are no longer a farm town. We can’t be afraid of change.” – Councilman Haman.

O’Fallon has grown to nearly 76,000 residents and is home to 475 acres of parks, distinctive new home communities and AAA rated schools. Just off Highway K you’ll find one of Payne Family Homes’ beautiful communities, Belleau Creek.

If the name of the highway changes, business and residences will continue to receive mail using either Highway K or Krekel Boulevard.

MODOT will be replacing highway signs in the next year; if the name change occurs before the signs are changed it will cost nothing to taxpayers.
