Buy A Stud Event Benefits 2020 St. Louis St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway
Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 10 am until 2 pm
St. Louis (January 14, 2020)—Payne Family Homes has teamed up with Chic Lumber to host the second annual Buy A Stud fund-raising event supporting the 2020 St. Louis St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign. The Buy A Stud event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 1st from 10 am until 2 pm at Chic Lumber at 2625 East Terra Lane in O’Fallon, Missouri, 63366. This family-friendly event allows the public an opportunity to donate, decorate and support the 2020 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign, leaving their own personal mark on the home itself.
Bring your friends and family and decorate a 2×4 wall stud ($10) or a 4×8 sheet of OSB plywood ($50) that will be used in framing and construction of the 2020 St. Louis St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway house.
“Chic Lumber has been a huge part of the St. Louis St. Jude Dream Home campaign alongside Payne Family Homes since the very start,” said Eva Fryar, VP Construction Operations at Payne Family Homes. “This is the seventh consecutive year that Chic has fully donated their time and materials to benefit the kids of St. Jude.”
In 2019, 43 homes were given away as part of the Dream Home campaign. Payne Family Homes is the only builder to achieve zero hero status every single year the company has participated in the fund-raising effort. Payne’s first St. Jude Dream Home was built and awarded to a winner in 2014. Zero hero is the name bestowed upon builders that provide a fully-donated home. Everyone involved in the Payne Family Homes St. Louis St. Jude Dream Home build donates their time, materials, and other resources to make the campaign a success.
“Each year more and more people reach out to us asking ‘how can we participate in the campaign?” said Dawn Walter, Director of Marketing at Payne Family Homes. “It’s because of the St. Louis community’s generosity and strong desire to join us in the effort to defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases that we continue to look for additional ways individuals, schools, teams, clubs and other organizations can participate outside of reserving a $100 ticket to win the St. Jude Dream Home.”
Because of the overwhelming interest from area organizations hoping to get involved in the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, this year Chic Lumber has agreed to transport bulk lumber donations to schools, teams, clubs, and other groups interested in hosting their own decorating party. Make arrangements now as deliveries must be made prior to February 1st and picked up prior to February 7th in order to be included in the construction of the St. Jude Dream Home.
Over the past six years, Payne Family homes has raised $7.1 million dollars. Approximately 7,500 open house visitors toured the 2019 St. Jude Dream Home which was located at The Villages at Sandfort Farm by Payne Family Homes in St. Charles.
Payne Family Homes will kick off construction on the 2020 St. Jude Dream Home benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with an early morning groundbreaking celebration on Thursday, January 30th at Legends Pointe in O’Fallon, Missouri. The 2020 St. Jude Dream Home will be awarded to one lucky ticket holder live on FOX2 KTVI in late August. Tickets can be reserved beginning June 11th for $100 each, and only 11,500 will be sold. The home will be open to the public for free tours beginning July 11th. Tours will be available on Saturdays from 9:00 am until 5:00 and Sundays from noon until 5:00 pm through August 16th.

About St. Jude
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
