This week, our employee spotlight is shining upon the Mayor of Legends Pointe, Lonnie Ledbetter. Lonnie is the Community Sales Manager for Legends Pointe and The Villas at Legends Pointe in O’Fallon, MO. As the sales manager in the host neighborhood for this year’s St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign, Lonnie has also enjoyed a front row seat to the design, construction, and staging of this year’s beautiful Adelaide II. Now, she’s getting ready to celebrate the Grand Closeout of villa home sites at The Villas at Legends Pointe. Let’s see what else keeps Lonnie busy!

Where’d you go to high school?
I went to Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, MO, Warrenton High School in Warrenton, MO and Graduated from Wentzville High School in Wentzville, MO.

Who was your childhood hero?
My childhood hero was my dad. To me he was bigger than life. He was a great left fielder and was signed by the Cleveland Indians. He is in the Minor League Baseball Hall of Fame. Owned his own business and was a strict but the perfect dad to me.

What’s your favorite color?
Turquois Blue — like the ocean before the drop off and the really deep water.

What do you love most about new home construction?
There is something very special and fulfilling in helping guide buyers in the process of finding and building their dream home. I feel my job is to problem solve and to find out what isn’t working for them with their current home. What are the most important features are they looking for in their new home and to find a fit for their needs. Every buyer is different. Some are first time buyers who really need help in what they know and what they need to know. I feel it’s important to point out why Payne Family Homes is different from the other builder and that is easy to point out in what we included in our standard features. I love to call or email them each week to update them of the progress and send photos of the construction. Keeping them informed and excited on what we are doing in the home. The best reward is when they send me a photo of themselves with their keys just after closing and say “Thank you for building our Dream Home!” It just makes you feel so good to have helped in their journey.

What’s your advice to buyers looking at both resale and new construction?
I advise them to look at both but to really look at the age of the resale home. In this market most of the time if a resale home is nice it is sold in the first day at times in a bidding war and some forgoing inspections that can lead to added expense for the buyer should something be wrong. When you purchase a resale home you are living in and with the previous owners selections, stains, pets and wear and tear and damage. With a new Payne Family Home, you select everything from the options that are important to you, the colors of your home both inside and out so it is truly an expression of you. You are the first family to live in the home and you have a great warranty on your new home too. Pricing is always advertised and a great warranty included so they can buy with confidence.

Vacation anywhere! Where do you go?
This is an easy one for me. Mexico! I am fortunate enough to visit Mexico several times a year.

What’s the title of the movie of your life?
A Blessed Life! I have had many ups and downs in my life. I have lost a husband, brother and my parents and grandparents. I feel there is something good in everything. Sometimes you have to look very hard to find it. In everything that has happened in my life, the blessing are everywhere and I continue to be most grateful.

Favorite pizza topping?
I like everything on pizza except anchovies.

Any pets?
Funny you should ask. I have three pugs. They are Glitzy Grand Supreme, Hank and the new puppy Buzz. They keep us busy and laughing a lot.

Name someone special! What do they mean to you?
I have to say my two daughters. Life has given us many challenges from the time they were babies and their father passed away from cancer. Breanna was four and Theresa was eight months old. We are so very close and they are everything to me. We have been blessed with a wonderful life full of travel and adventure that is fun to share with them and I feel keeps me young. I could not have raised these two without the help on my husband Charlie to whom I have been married to for 23 years on July 12th. Sorry I know that’s 3 not 1.

What’s your hobbies?
Traveling and deep sea fishing. I am also a certified scuba diver.

Fishing-Trip

How many times have you moved in your lifetime?
In my younger years I moved too many times to say. I went to four high schools and lived in several states. I return to Missouri in the 80’s and have not left. In in older years O’Fallon and Lake St. Louis have been my home for over 30 years now.

What talent do you wish you had?
I played clarinet in high school in three marching band. I had always wished I had picked the saxophone. I love the sound of a jazzy saxophone.

What secret talent are you hiding?
I directed beauty pageants for over 15 years. I have had many state and nations titleholders. I have judged for the USA and glitz pageant systems. Both of my daughters also competed and I have boxes of trophies and tiaras. I am guessing I have coached over 100 girls many who have went on to win big titles. Kind funny to teach little ones how to walk and interview and select competition clothing. Cute story Ella Roberts age 4 was in the interview room and I was listening in. Shandi Fennessey Miss USA 2004 and runner up to Miss Universe was her judge. Little Ella touched her ear and her stick on earring fell off. Ella got down off her chair and crawled under the table to get her earring. It was funny to see Shandi stand up and look under the table for Ella. Not the best interview but it was sure cute and we still talk about it.

What do you love most about summer?
I love everything about summer. The hot weather. The water, could be the lake to ski or the ocean and waves. The sand in my toes and being outside. Baseball too but not this year.

We’re sorry that we are unable to open the St. Jude Dream Home for live tours this year, but hope you’ll check out the Video Tour that Mayor Lonnie put together to give you a look inside!
